Certification as Rail Safety Engineer
Qualification Safety Manager in railroad safety

2022 is going, 2023 is coming – and the planning of training content and dates for the new year is in place. The Rail Safety Campus again offers plenty of training! In these weeks we will introduce the new modules one by one. This time there are two:

Safety Manager

Safety Manager

Qualification in the field of safety in rail transport

Often named or even required in regulations and guidelines: the Safety Manager. However, the role in the project or company as well as the understanding of the role of the
safety manager
differ depending on the company’s orientation. Operators, manufacturers and maintenance personnel set their own requirements – and the authority or the expert also sets standards.

Based on the experience of the last ten years, we have compiled the requirements of standardization, industry, associations and academia and built up this attractive training course, which comprises two five-day sessions. Top-notch lecturers present on current topics with a focus on rail safety. Among others: legal aspects in product safety, safety methods and safety management system, reporting, audit of suppliers, interfaces inside and outside the organization as well as qualification and testing.

Ideal for employees in the safety management (system) of manufacturers and operators!

Certification as Rail Safety Engineer

according to EN 50126 / EN 50129 / EN 50128N

The training to become a

takes place in cooperation with the FH Aachen and comprises five individual modules that build on each other and can be booked individually or as a whole:

  • Basics (principles of rail transport and fundamentals of railroad engineering)
  • Homologation (German and European conditions – assessment and approval process in Germany)
  • Standards (vehicle-specific standards)
  • Measures & Techniques (in-depth study of measures and techniques in the context of EN 50129)
  • Practice (Practical applications – the way to safety proof).

The demands on the reliability and safety of railroad systems on the global market are constantly increasing. The CENELEC safety standards EN 50126 (IEC 62278), EN 50128 (IEC 62279), EN 50129 (IEC 62425) and EN 50159 require companies to ensure that the persons responsible for functional safety have the relevant competence and qualifications. And in railroad technology, trained personnel are urgently needed who can demonstrate their competence and professionalism through appropriate qualifications.
